Cayleigh has a beautiful way of telling some real life horror stories And this review is all thanks to her story on The New Jersey Watcher House .
In the next few paragraphs i’m going to explain the background of the house, If you just want to skip it for the review section scroll down and look for..
The New Jersey Watcher House is a odd case. Back in June 2014 a young couple with three kids bought a house in New Jersey for 1.35$ Million. Three days after purchasing the home they received the first letter.
“My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time, I have been put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming. Do you need to fill the house with the young blood I requested? Once I know their names I will call to them and draw them out to me.”
Understandably creepy and would shake anyone in to call the cops right away! right? Well not this couple they decided to just ignore the letter, and not call the cops.
They received two more letters,
June 18, 2014
“Have they found out what is in the walls yet? In time they will. I am pleased to know your names now and the name of the young blood you have brought to me, Will the young bloods play in the basement? Who has the bedrooms facing the street? I’ll know as soon as you move in. … It will help me to know who is in which bedroom then I can plan better. The home’s windows and doors “allow me to watch you and track you as you move through the house.
Who I am? I am the Watcher.”
At this point the family still hadn’t moved in when they were sent the last note on July 18 ( he seems to be really in to the 18)
“You have changed it and made it so fancy, It cries for the past and what used to be in the time when I roamed its halls. … When I ran from room to room imagining the life with the rich occupants there. And now I watch and wait for the day when the young blood will be mine again. I am in charge, of the home, Let the young blood play again like I once did stop changing it and let it alone.”
some time after this, the family put the house back up for sale. The couple waited a whole year before contacting any kind of authority and it wasn’t to complain about this stalker that just really like the house it was to sue the previous owners. They sighted that becuase of the letters no one would buy the home (how did any one know about it? Well they told the papers of course)
The couple claimed to put thousands of dollars into the house but no neighbor say anything be done but its referenced by the watcher.
over all the story sounds like a family who really wanted to be famous for a “haunted” house. The house has been taken off the market and the family even solid the right to a movie.
Now lets review the 2016 horror movie. If you didn’t read the above or watch the video done by Cayleigh then all you need to know is that, a family of 5 bought a house that they never moved in to after getting 3 letters by someone signed “the watcher”.
The Watcher , begins with a young couple Emma and Noah touring a house and eventually buying it. The retail agent made a comment that they beat out 5 people for the house even thought it was in need of many repairs. Emma falls off a tree house in he back yard after seeing someone inside of it.
The person in the tree house is actually the Teenager Mikey who has some kind of Mental disability, his mom Jeanne apologies and quickly becomes friends with Emma. Jeanne brings emma cakes and tea over and becomes her confidant threw out the whole movie. The couple receives countless letters starting with “dear People” and signed “the Raven”…
Which I have a HUGE problem with. if the movie is called “The watcher” why is the villain “The Raven” it just doesn’t make sense. Any way…
The Raven sends not just letters but dead rats and many other creepy little gifts. The family isn’t just plagued with this raven, Emma starts to hallucinate things such as , killing herself, a giant raven in the house and other strange things.
The previous owner even breaks in a few times and try’s to assault emma. Near the end of the movie its reviled that Jeanne was the pervious owners nurse and had poisoned her with all the tea and cakes. (shocker…)
Inbetween all of this a lot of shit goes on like the raven saying it would kill any babies that come into the house, and Emma finding a dead body in the house. There is a solid twist at the end that i wont spoil.
All in ALL this movie is garbage, its not scary nor thrilling. The movie is Loosely…very Loosely based on the real life Watcher house. And honestly i’m still very upset about the name and the idea of the Raven. The original story has much more potential to be very scary.
1.5/5 at best.
